If you read my previous post on summer kitchen ideas, then your kitchen is probably giving off hints of summer. Great!
But why stop there? Your kitchen is the one room in the house where everyone ends up eventually (we all have to eat right?), so it might as well be like the brightest room too!
If you're going to spend time cooking, meal prepping, (and let’s face it, cleaning up after everyone else…), I say you deserve a place that at least looks great while you do it.
That's why I'm back with more ideas to keep that summer refresh going. Again, these are all meant to be simple additions. Nothing that requires a contractor or more than a trip to the store (or your own backyard).
Ready for round two? I know I am!
A Summer-Inspired Morning Tray
Here's something I love. Style a cute morning tray right on your counter. A coffee mug, a candle, some dried citrus slices on a wooden board, and maybe a patterned napkin underneath.
It's both decor and AND your morning ritual on display! And dried orange slices are your accessory here. They last a really long time, they smell amazing, and they’re a nod to summer vibes.
Wooden Utensils on the Counter
If your utensil situation is a jumbled drawer full of mismatched spatulas (no pointing fingers…I've been there), try this instead.
Stand a few wooden utensils, like spoons, spatulas, a salad fork, upright in a ceramic crock or a simple stoneware vase.
Wood and ceramic together make it seem like you spent your weekends at the farmers market…even if you shop at the grocery store. And functionally, everything you need is right there while you're cooking. Pretty + practical. Great combo!
Folded Linen Towels
Ok, I know I talked about towels in your summer kitchen. But this is different! Instead of hanging them, stack a few neatly folded striped towels and set them in a corner of your kitchen or on your island.
Bonus points if you have a wooden cutting board. The contrast of wood and linen is something straight out of a lifestyle magazine, and it took you all of 2 minutes to fold them. Now you have that relaxed, lived-in summer look for your kitchen, no permanent changes needed.
A Trailing Plant on a Shelf
Want to bring some green into your kitchen without cluttering up your counter space? Go vertical.
I appreciate a draping plant like pothos or English ivy on a floating shelf in a kitchen. It adds life, softens all those hard surfaces, and grows even more beautiful the longer you ignore it (yep, my kind of plant).
TIP: position it near a window and let the light filter through the leaves. Instant mood upgrade.
A Big Bouquet of Daffodils
I covered colorful bouquets in your kitchen in my previous post, but this deserves its own spotlight. A tall vase absolutely stuffed with bright yellow daffodils is summer in a single arrangement.
And don't be shy with it. Go big. Grab two or three bunches and pack them tightly into a vase (wicker or woven adds a nice touch). Set it on the counter and see how it completely brightens up your kitchen.
Lemon-Print Accents
Here's a fun one. If you love the yellow theme but want something a little more playful, try adding some lemon-print pieces to your kitchen.
It might be a lemon-print tea towel, a small piece of wall art, or even a set of lemon-print napkins. It's cheerful and it ties the summer kitchen. Think of it as the pattern version of tossing fresh lemons on the counter. Same vibe, but in fabric form.
A Bowl of Oranges + Glass Carafe
Now we’re leveling up the fruit bowl idea. This time, place a bowl of oranges next to a glass water carafe or pitcher. The combination of citrus and glass makes your counter look like a scene from a Mediterranean kitchen. I’m down for vacation feels, even if you're only making Tuesday night pasta.
A rustic metal bowl makes this combo even better.
A Single Tropical Leaf in a Brown Bottle
This one is so simple…it’s almost too simple. Find a brown glass bottle (an old medicine bottle, a vintage vase, anything with that amber tone), and put a single palm frond or large tropical leaf in it.
Set it against a white tile backsplash, and you've got this gorgeous contrast. Warm glass, green leaf, clean white background. It's minimal, modern, and gives your kitchen that laidback tropical vibe without going full tiki bar.
Yellow Wildflowers in a Basket
Daffodils not your thing? Then go with a big, overflowing bunch of yellow wildflowers in a basket, right on your kitchen island.
Look at how much life this adds to the space! The bright yellow pops against the neutrals of the countertop and cabinetry.
Mimosa branches are a gorgeous option here (those tiny yellow clusters are so fun), or you could go with billy buttons, goldenrod, or even a big bunch of yellow baby's breath. Whatever you pick, be generous with it. Go for more for the fullness effect.

Less Work, More Summer
Well, what do you think? Now you’ve got even more ways to bring summer into your kitchen. And not a single one required power tools, paint swatches, or several days of hard labor.
After all, I think that summer is meant for taking it easy, so take the same approach with your kitchen refresh.
